It's not that hard being a single dad. It's as hard as it is being a single mom. Maybe with a dad, it's a little different. The kids respect you a little more. My kids have respect. They're good. They never have any trouble in the playground.

I lost my apartment because when I was unemployed. My wife ran away with a bus driver. We needed jobs to pay the rent. She was a cleaner in buildings, and I worked as a floor cleaner for seven dollars an hour. I gave her fourteen years of my life, and while I was unemployed, she left. I wanted to give the kids a home, but I couldn't pay the rent so I had to leave.

I don't plan to live like this. I didn't want welfare. I've been working since I was sixteen years old. What I hope for my children is something better than what I have. I dropped out of high school in the tenth grade. I don't want them to follow my steps. I want them to stay in school and finish.
