Mark spent three months photographing the brothels that lined Falkland Road in Bombay, India. 'It was an extraordinary experience,' she remembers. At first it was difficult to win the trust of the women who worked there. 'People threw garbage at me in the street, and stole my wallet. Finally one madam invited me in for tea. We became friends, and soon other madams let me in.'
