MARY ELLEN MARK
World-class photojournalist Mary Ellen Mark also abandoned painting for the camera. Drawn to the fringes of society, Mark covers tough subjects brothels in India, street kids in Seattle, a Malibu, CA, camp for children with cancer with a clear eye and with compassion. "I'm interested in people who haven't had as much of a chance," Mark says, "because they reach out more, they need more. They touch me."
