'Star Wars' fans are bracing for a new batch of Jawa ‑dropping characters, plot twists and special effects.
The Little Man
"When I first heard I was gonna try out or a Star Wars movie," says Jake Lloyd, "I went, 'What's Star Wars?"' After watching a video of the original film, "I loved Darth Vader," he says. That's good, because a few months later, in the summer of 1997, he was in London and Tunisia playing Anakin Skywalker, the boy who in future episodes will go over to the Dark Side of the Force and become the heavy‑breathing heavy. Although The Phantom Menace will soon make Lloyd, 10, the best‑known child actor in the world, he is already a little too famous for comfort at his California public school. "I stick out like a needle in a thumb," he says.
