Mary Ellen taught photography workshops for over 30 years. In this book she discusses the main topics that she would distill in her workshops using examples of her work and also photographs by some of her students.
In 1983 Mary Ellen met Tiny, a 13-year-old girl working as a prostitute on the streets of Seattle. Mary Ellen photographed her for Life Magazine and also her book "Streetwise." Tiny was also the star of Martin's documentary "Streetwise." They continued to photograph and film her and her family for over 30 years. TINY: The Life of Erin Blackwell is the culmination of this work.
We're pleased to have both films in theaters this summer.
